Asterion: A Journey through the Labyrinth
A call for artists of all persuasions to participate in a large installation.

A mysterious labyrinth of 45 interconnected rooms and spaces through which one participant at a time will undertake a transformative journey, Asterion is a creative endeavour that will require the services of up to one hundred artists to complete.

Asterion is a multidisciplinary site specific permanent installation devised by Canadian composer R. Murray Schafer and being realized under the direction of Jerrard Smith, theatre designer and long time Schafer collaborator. For the past four years, teams of artists, craftspeople, students and builders have been creating a variety of physical spaces on a rural property in Ontario. Now we are looking for teams of artists to transform these spaces into environments that tell stories.

"I want to encourage artists with varied backgrounds and from different disciplines to collaborate on the development of these spaces" notes Jerrard. "I would like to see collaborations between artists that do not normally work together. A sound sculptor and a gardener perhaps, or a dancer and a textile artist."

Artists might include: painters, sculptors, light artists, sound artists, media artists, gardeners and landscape architects, architects, theatre designers and propsmakers, musicians and composers, fibre artists, installation artists, site specific creators and more.

Please check this site for background, pictures and additional information.
